Brief Introduction

The WCA audit (Workplace Conditions Assessment) is an audit standard issued by Intertek. The WCA audit, often known as a human rights audit, is a social duty. The plant must obtain industrial injury insurance for every employee and obtain social security permission in order for the WCA audit to accept the comprehensive timing approval. After ten years of concentrating on factory audit consulting, Saicert provides customers with a customized WCA certificate, WCA factory audit consulting, WCA certificate cost, and WCA certificate counseling solution that includes follow-up, audit accompanying, on-site counseling, etc., all while guaranteeing a positive conclusion.

WCA (Workplace Conditions Assessment) provide cost-effective solutions for companies that are committed to improving plant conditions while helping them meet widely recognized industry standards and best practices.

The WCA audit standard adjusts the GSCP standards adopted by large retail organizations. Based on Intertek's deep social responsibility compliance service experience, WCA has become a powerful tool to help companies implement supplier factory assessment, benchmarking, and continuous improvement. The online platform built by Intertek makes the review process smoother and more intelligent, greatly improving the efficiency of supply chain members.

The WCA certification quanlification: above 85 points.

The price charged by ITS is USD650/man-day+travelling+VAT.

The total number of factories is less than 300, which is 1man-day.

The total number of factories is 301-4000: 2man-day.

The WCA audit is concerned with the following:

Health and safety - overall work environment facilities, emergency response capabilities, work injuries, mechanical operation safety, potential work space crisis, chemical hazardous substances, accommodation environment and canteen facilities.

Management system - document and record keeping, worker feedback and participation, review and improvement measures.

Labor - child labor, forced labor, discrimination, discipline, harassment and abuse, workers' freedom of association and labor contract wages and working hours - remuneration and benefits, working hours.

Environment - Compliance with regulatory requirements, environmental management systems, waste and gas emissions.

Additional explanation: WCA audit is a social responsibility audit developed by ITS much easier than ICTI. WCA is a system similar to a checklist. The WCA audit standard adjusts the GSCP standards adopted by large retail organizations and has become a powerful tool to help companies implement supplier factory assessments, benchmarks, and continuous improvement.

The final result of the WCA audit is divided into 4 levels: green: 85 points and above; yellow: 71-84 points; orange: 51-70 points; red: 50 points and below.

The highest level of WCA audit is 85 points and above. At present, DOLLOR GENERAL (D&G) requires this requirement; many foreign customers only need to reach 71-84 points; even customers have 51 points and above.

When receiving the WCA audit request from the customer, the foreign trade customer can, by the way, ask the WCA audit final audit level that the customer can accept. In some cases, the factory can continue to improve according to its actual situation and gradually reach different inspection levels.

Each problem point is subdivided into the following levels in the WCA audit review checklist:

(1) CRITICAL: Key non-conformities; (2) Major: Big problem; (3) MODERATE: Moderate problem; (4) Minor: Minor problem.

WCA inspection wages work focus:

1. Since the attendance record provided is inconsistent with the production record, it is impossible to determine the conformity of attendance and salary and the authenticity of the attendance record.

2. Due to the above inconsistency, it is impossible to determine whether the employee's total working hours, weekly maximum working hours, and total overtime hours meet the requirements.

3. Can not determine whether to rest at least 1 day every 7 days;

4. The salary statement provided is incorrect and inconsistent;

5. It is impossible to determine whether the normal minimum wage/overtime fee/salary calculation method/piece piece salary calculation method meets the requirements.

6. The employee has no social insurance or no social insurance approval;

7. Wages are not paid on a regular basis.

8. It is not possible to determine whether the annual leave/statutory leave/maternity leave pays the employee's salary as required;

When responding to the WCA audit, the company should not pursue the number of problems and ignore the seriousness of the problem. Different levels of problem points are not the same. Many customers confirm that the WCA factory passes the standard. In addition to the requirements for the final level, there are requirements for the level of problems that arise. Sometimes even if the total score is high, the individual problem points are critical non-conformities or big problems. It is also impossible to pass the WCA audit.

Common health and safety issues at the WCA audit:

1. The safety door does not meet the requirements and requirements. Two of the four are side sliding doors, and the other two are rolling doors.

2. There is no emergency light in the raw material warehouse.

3. The sewing machine belt has no protective cover.

4. The electrician's certificate expires.

5. There is not enough fire-fighting equipment. There is no fire extinguisher in the raw material warehouse. At least 5 fire extinguishers are needed. There is no fire hydrant about 500 square feet.

6. The fire extinguisher is placed on the ground without hanging up.

7. There is no safety exit mark, and there are no export of 2 raw material warehouses.]

Common system management issues at WCA audit:

1. There is no environmental impact registration form and environmental impact assessment.

2. There is no social responsibility management review.

3. There is no definition and authorization of responsibilities in social responsibility.

4. There is no appointment of management representatives in the area of social responsibility.

5. There is no written procedure for assessing and selecting social responsibility for subcontractors and suppliers.

6. There is no regular internal review of social responsibility.

7. There are no corresponding corrective and preventive measures to prevent social responsibility related issues.

8. There is no designated environmental manager representative.

The results of the WCA audit are divided into three grades, red orange yellow green light, and more than 85 green light. It is difficult to meet the requirements in one audit. The documentation of the social responsibility system and the environmental system in the WCA audit process is very demanding and will be ignored in many cases.

Green (85-100 points): Most requirements are met (DG85 points or more) .

Yellow (71-84 points): Part of the medium-risk problem is required to be met, and the English abbreviation must be submitted within 15 days of the Correction Plan (CAP). Follow-up review in the days to come.

Orange (51-70 points): Low standard, usually followed up in 90 days.

Red (0-50 points): Very low standard.

The requirements of the WCA audit are different from other general social responsibility audits.

1. Only accept the original and do not accept copies for government documents;

2. The quality completion acceptance report must be available;

3. Pay more attention to the detection of noise/dust/lighting;

4. Filing, physical examination and profiles of juvenile workers must be checked;

5. Does the factory special position have an occupational medical examination (not an ordinary medical examination);

6. If there is a process out, it depends on the evaluation report of your factory's external factory;

7. It will find an employee from the work injury report and view it. Work injury month attendance form, salary list, do you have any salary during the work injury period;

8. Will check the resignation of the resigned employee / salary settlement form and the first month and the month before the departure of the attendance table;

9. Ergonomic evaluation (some auditors will request, some will not);

10. The factory's social responsibility internal audit, as well as management review;

11. Managers should conduct social responsibility awareness training and retain signatures;

The WCA audit is to accept the comprehensive timing approval, and requires the factory to purchase all work insurance for all employees and accept the social insurance approval.

The WCA audit results are divided into four levels, namely:

Green (85-100): accepted by all customers;

Yellow (71-84 points): Most customers accept that, some customers do not, and DG is only one of them.

Orange (51-70 points): Not accepted, need to be tracked after 90 days.

Red (0-50 points): Not accepted, follow-up review according to the specific situation.

More than 85 points in the WCA audit are generally not available for the first time, because the WCA 85 score is very strict for each detail. We can help you get 85 points at one time.

What are the benefits of passing the WCA audit?

1. Reduce excessive/repeated audits.

2. Achieve effective corporate governance and help suppliers become the preferred supplier.

3. The supplier will receive the “Excellent Achievement Award” certificate to demonstrate its outstanding achievements.

4. Real-time information and knowledge management make it easy to make quick and informed decisions.

5. High transparency and more confidence in cooperation with suppliers.

6. High morale, more productive, and healthy team.

WRAP Certified Silver Certificate (C certificate) - valid for six months, issued to factories that meet the WRAP certification key production principles. These factories have no serious problems in policies, procedures or training, and still need to be improved. The factory does not exist. Serious non-compliance issues such as child labor, extreme safety and health or environmental issues, employment of prisoners, forced or involuntary labor, harassment or abuse of labour. WRAP certified factories must demonstrate that employees receive the minimum wage required by law and the overtime pay specified.

WRAP Certified Gold Certificate (B) - Valid for one year, issued to all factories that are in compliance with WRAP certified production principles during the first or subsequent inspections. This certificate is valid from the date of issue of the certificate, not from the date of inspection.

WRAP Certified Platinum Certificate (A certificate) - rewards the factory for the three consecutive years to fully maintain the WRAP certification of the twelve principles of compliance, and successfully passed each monitoring, no corrective action plan (CAP). All factories that meet these criteria are awarded a certificate valid for two years. During the two years, the factory will be subject to audits without prior notice. Factories must continue to be certified to qualify for the WRAP Platinum Certificate.

What is differences between initial audit and re-audit of WRAP?

WRAP initial audit: You can choose a certification body and do not notify the audit time.

WRAP re-audit: A certification body is directly designated by WRAP and does not notify the audit time.

WRAP Certification - Occupational Health Check Report

Many customers are used to doing some fake documents during the audit process. However, Tranwin reminds customers here that some documents need to check the original ones.

Among the WRAP audits,  the auditors need to check the original occupational health check reports, and the payment invoices of the medical examination fee. I hope that everyone can do the relevant preparations.

The goal of the WRAP Certification Program

The goal of the WRAP Certification Program is to promote and validate legal, humane and ethical production practices around the world. Participation in the WRAP Certification Program fully demonstrates the commitment to the implementation of socially responsible business practices through strong adherence to the WRAP Principles. The plan seeks to achieve this by verifying that the manufacturing facilities' meeting the principles of WRAP, which is related to labor policies, factory conditions, and compliance with environmental management and customs regulations. The plan is a factory-centric certification program. Participating factories voluntarily agree that an independent inspector will assess whether the facility is performing the above principles.

The ongoing implementation of the program is the responsibility of the WRAP Certification Committee, which consists of an independent board of directors and a number of executives, all of whom are prominent individuals. WRAP reviews the compliance report of the production facility, approves the appointment of an independent ombudsman, and verifies that the facility has complied with the relevant principles.
